Repeat Offender: LIN Media Threatening Yet Another Retrans Blackout

New Poster Child For FCC Revamp of Rules
Washington D.C. March 28, 2011 – Fresh off its eight-day blackout of 27 stations in 17 markets, LIN is again threatening to pull the plug on viewers, this time on nine stations in five markets. With this blackout threat on Cox, LIN is becoming the poster child for a revamp of FCC rules that now put broadcasters in the driver’s seat during negotiations. For the sake of viewers across the nation, we urge the FCC to move quickly on new rules that curb broadcaster bullying.
Markets affected by LIN Media blackout: Mobile, Ala.; New Haven, Conn.; Norfolk, Va.; Providence, R.I.; and Springfield, Mass. Stations include ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CW and MyNetwork affiliates.
