ATVA Statement on Senate STELA Hearing
Washington, D.C. April 1, 2014– Following today’s Senate Communications, Technology, and the Internet Subcommittee hearing on the Reauthorization of the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act, the American Television Alliance released the following statement:
We applaud Chairman Rockefeller and the other members of the Committee who recognize that now is the time to act to update our video rules. Consumers should not have to wait several more years for new rules, especially given that those rules may be outdated by the time they are actually made law. STELA provides an immediate opportunity to help protect consumers. We have seen yet again that policymakers recognize the retransmission consent regime needs reform. We look forward to working with the Committee to help align our video rules with the current marketplace.
