ATVA Applauds STELAR Passage
Following the House’s passage STELAR legislation today, the American Television Alliance released the following statement:
We applaud the leadership and members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee for their efforts to craft legislation that will provide some meaningful reforms for consumers. The STELAR bill is an improvement on current law and will ensure that at least 1.5 million Americans don’t lose access to broadcast TV signals. The bill’s prohibition of joint retransmission consent negotiations is a step in the right direction to help curb skyrocketing retrans fees and TV blackouts. We further encourage the Committee to continue to look for solutions to the other problems that result from our outdated retransmission consent regime.
