Parents Television Council Endorses Local Choice
LOS ANGELES (August 12, 2014) – The Parents Television Council issued the following statement about the new proposal introduced by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) that will end local TV station blackouts while giving consumers a choice over the broadcast stations they want.
PTC President Tim Winter said the following:
“This proposal is a wonderful and important first step for consumer choice. Consumers, not the media conglomerates, should decide for themselves which networks they want to purchase and bring into their homes. While the present measure would give consumers choice over the broadcast networks, we hope this will ultimately pave the way for consumers to enjoy greater choice for all of their cable programming. We applaud Sens. Rockefeller and Thune for putting consumers first.”
