ATVA Applauds Today’s Senate Hearing on the Future of Online Video
Tremendous Innovations While TV Regulations Remain Stuck in the Past
WASHINGTON, D.C. April 24, 2012 – The American Television Alliance (ATVA) commends Sen. Jay Rockefeller and the Senate Commerce Committee for holding today’s hearing on the future of online video. While technology has fast forwarded into the 21st century, the rules governing the video marketplace are stuck on “pause” in another era, with no significant changes since 1992. It’s time to review and reform those regulations, particularly on retransmission consent, to address the changes and serve consumers. We urge to the Senate and House to hold more hearings to assess the situation and consider needed reforms.
